Winter Trees

We have been talking a lot about winter time this month . Winter is cold and the trees have no leaves . We used oil pastel to draw winter trees and painted over them with white paint to make a winter scene .

Healthy Eating

We have been learning all about the different food groups in S.P.H.E. We looked at the Food Pyramid and at how much of the different types of food we should be eating every day .

We made a big food pyramid by drawing lots of different types of food and putting them into the correct groups.

An Aimsir

We have been talking about An Aimsir (The Weather) in Irish. We know how to talk about all the different types of weather.

Inniu an Aoine. Tá sé fuar agus scamallach. Tá sé ag cur báistí freisin.
(Today is Friday. It is cold and cloudy. It is raining too).

Writing Bag

We love writing in Room 14. We have been taking turns to bring a writing bag home . At home we have been doing some brilliant writing. Have a look at our Writing Gallery below:

Dublin Zoo

A Zookeeper from Dublin Zoo came to talk to us about all the animals in Dublin Zoo this week . He told us all about the animals and their habitats .
Find out more here: Animals and Habitats

The Zookeeper showed us lots of interesting things . Have a look at some of them below :

A real elephants foot . The elephant dies because it was very old . Elephants always walk on their tiptoe and they don't make any noise when they walk .

An elephants tooth . Elephants only have two really big teeth at the back of their mouths .

An elephants tusk . Elephants use their tusks for lots of things including finding food and carrying wood .

Ostriches are the biggest birds in Dublin Zoo. They are not able to fly. This is an ostrich egg. It's shell is really hard to protect the chick inside .

 A Sumatran tiger skin . Isn't it beautiful ?

A turtle shell . Turtles live to be over a hundred old . Most of the turtles in Dublin Zoo are unwanted pets .
